Trying On A Different Me

Have you ever wished you could just be someone else for a day? That you could make all your worries, disappointments, pressure and “to do” list simply disappears? Do you think about what would have happened if you had made other choices in life, where would you be today? I know I do sometimes. Our teen girls are at a point in life when they are trying to figure out, on a daily basis, who they are. They think about what choices they are going to make and what impact these choices are going to have on their social life,…

It’s Time I Forgave Myself

It’s that time of the year in the Jewish Calendar where we are asked to reflect on the year that has passed and set our intentions, for whom we strive to be in the year to come. I love this time of year and the forced pause to give thought to how I am showing up in this world.  In everyday life we don’t always have time to stop and take stock. Did You Talk To Your Daughter About This Week Terror Attacks?

This has been one week where I was grateful that I chose not to Install cable when I moved a year ago and stick to getting my news online. Otherwise, like so many others I would have a hard time not re-watching the tragedies of this past week. Growing up in Israel, terrorist attacks are sadly not foreign to me. It pains me every time I find out someone I know has been…

Are You Surviving Summer Vacation!

We are deep into the summer, and I am hearing from many of you that things are starting to get overwhelming. Whether you are at home with the kids or still going off to work, there is something about the summer with it’s organized chaos (or hopefully organized) that brings on another layer of added stress. I know you may be spending more quality time as a family and going off to visit family, and hopefully somewhere in there you have left some time for rest. Being on vacation and taking part in family activities and time with your relatives…

What Do You Tell Yourself? What Do You Tell Your Daughter?

When I was a young girl, nothing annoyed me more than being told I could not do something because I was a girl. I remember, as if it was yesterday, that after giving my Bat Mitzvah speech, my aunt came up to me and said “ You spoke so beautifully and intelligently, just like a boy.” I was furious. To me, this was not a compliment!  I now know that she meant well and, to her, this was a genuine compliment and expression of love. In the last couple of years, we have seen more and more ad campaigns  attempting to…
